Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro: Features and performance
With all that’s been said about Apple’s delay in releasing new AirPods, it would be easy to overlook the fact that Samsung’s Galaxy Buds are actually a pretty good product. They were among the first truly wireless earphones to be released and were among the first products to implement Bluetooth 5. The Galaxy Buds are compatible with all devices running Android 9.0 and above, as well as with all devices running iOS 12 and above. They have a 9-hour battery life, have a charging time of 1 and a half hours, and come with a charging case that can provide additional 8 hours of battery life.
Build quality and design
The Galaxy Buds are available in black and white and come with IPX2 splashproof certification. They have a lightweight and ergonomic design and come with a small rubber hook that helps you keep the earphones securely in place. Unfortunately, this hook can also get in the way when you wear glasses. The Galaxy Buds’ charging case is built from a soft and sturdy synthetic material and is designed to look like the Samsung Galaxy S10. It has a magnetic latch and built-in LEDs that indicate the battery life remaining in both the case and the buds. One thing that we didn’t like about the Galaxy Buds’ charging case is that it takes a long time to charge fully. This could be a deal breaker for some people as it leaves you with no way to charge your headphones while you are at work.
Battery life and charging time
The Galaxy Buds have a decent battery life, but their charging time could be better. We would have liked to see Samsung use some of the techs it used in its Galaxy S10 wired earphones, which have a charging time of only 15 minutes. We also would have liked to see the company use some of the technology it used in its Galaxy Note 10 charging case, which can charge two devices at once. This functionality would have extended the Galaxy Buds’ functionality from a purely single-device product to a multi-device product. Unfortunately, Samsung has not implemented any of these technologies in the Galaxy Buds. This means that if you want to charge your headphones before you go to work, you will have to do so before leaving for the day.
Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy Bud 2 Pro?
If you’re interested in getting a pair of truly wireless earphones, the Galaxy Buds are a good product to start with. They are generally cheaper than AirPods, they have decent battery life and performance, and they come with a nice charging case. However, if you’re looking for a pair of truly wireless earphones that can deliver the best possible sound quality, the Galaxy Buds are not the right product for you. They are not noise canceling, and they don’t come with an audio profile like Apple’s built-in processing.
Final words: Is the Samsung Galaxy Bud 2 Pro Worth The Money?
Overall, the Galaxy Buds are a good product that does what it sets out to do. They are a perfectly adequate pair of truly wireless earphones that are best suited for first-time users. Unfortunately, they aren’t revolutionary like the first AirPods, nor do they have the sound quality of the second-generation AirPods. While they are a decent product and will serve someone well, they are definitely not a product that you should spend $249.99 on. There are better products available in this price range.
